ANAL PUDDING - A NICE POOP
It
takes just 10 seconds for Anal Pudding to set the tone of the album
with opening track Goatraper: “He raped a goat, his name was
Fred, he licked his balls and gave him head…” A Nice
Poop is a 14-track, 43-minute fun-filled platter of sexual perversion,
in which animals, grannies, crack whores and vampires all get in on the
action.
Following the fast-paced opener is a funky number called Your Dog’s Got Crazy Nipples, containing the classic line: “Bow wow wow, yippy yo, yippy yay—Don’t call the SPCA!” And Little Bow Wow Wow (whatever happened to that kid, anyways?) isn’t the only celebrity that the Pudding pokes fun at. Just listen to the first line of the next track: “Avril Lavigne be my latrine, gargle my piss like Listerine…” It’s a cheesy lounge lizard-type tune, but the lyrics are golden—literally. The next song, Come On Granny, is a long-time favourite of mine. I played it on my Antipop Radio internet show way back in 2004, when I was a nobody with no listeners, and AP were just starting to build a buzz around Buffalo, having played their first show the year before. It’s the first of many raunchy sing-along songs on the album, followed by the one-two punch of Anal Fangoria, a synth rocker about monster orgies and bloodsucking anuses, and Crack Whores Aren’t Worth It, which contains one of the greatest choruses of all time: Crack whores ain’t worth it, no and no one tell you otherwise, I think you’d better find something else to sodomize, Not even if you hold your nose and close your eyes, Crack whores ain’t worth it, crack whores ain’t worth it… City of the Strange Ones is apparently a cover, although I have no idea who performed the original. It’s not one of the album’s strong points, as it lacks the sexual perversion of the other material, although it’s got a very Primus-y feel to it. It’s followed by a piano ballad asking a very serious question: Can I Masturbate in Your Car? Honestly, I’ve been singing it for days, making sure to stay away from parking garages while doing so. Most of my favourite songs on A Nice Poop are among the first eight, although the second half does have some gems like twelfth track I’ve Got the Fever for the Flavor of a Fetus, with its clever alliterative chorus that’s not to be sung in the vicinity of abortion clinics, despite its catchiness. While the band played their last show in their hometown of Buffalo on February 14th, I have it on good authority that they’ll be getting back together to make the trip up to Toronto for 4/20. I’m definitely excited, and you should be too if you like toilet humour and funky music! Plus, in celebration of Anal Pudding’s five year anniversary, I’ve got five copies of A Nice Poop to give away! Click here for more details. Wanna win a copy of the album?
